About me

Emily Przekwas is a transmedia artist working across the mediums of sculpture, performance art, photography, and social practice.  In 2014, Przekwas won the Chalk Art Photography Contest with the Museum of Outdoor Arts which launched her artistic career. Shortly afterwards, she showed her work in a solo exhibition at the Denver Club Building which was profiled by Jamie Siebrese at Westword.  In 2015, Emily began taking classes at CU Denver under the guidance of artist Rian Kerrane.  Under Kerrane’s mentorship Emily has participated in a variety of iron exhibitions on the CU campus in addition to participating in Iron Tribe in New Mexico.

In addition to metal work and photography, Przekwas performed comedy and produced shows and open mics under the moniker Emily Zeek.  Her credits include MCA Denver Shut Up and Listen!, Boulder Comedy Show, Sexpot Comedy Showcase featuring Andy Haynes, Really Late Night with Matt Struck, Denver Open Media First Fridays Featured Performer, All in the Timing, Casa De Haha with Daniel Reskin, Picture This at the High Plains Comedy Festival, You Do What, Storytime!, Cosmic Joke, Comedy Super Jam among others.

As an outspoken feminist activist, Emily was covered in 2017 by the Denver Post’s reporting of the #metoo movement impacting the local comedy scene.  Emily produced and hosted a biweekly comedy show called Philosophy at the Capitol Hill Tavern which was the only local comedy show booked at parity (equal number of men on women on every show).  She also hosted and produced a monthly femme open mic at the Mercury Café called Diagnosis Hysterical and a weekly show at the Deerpile called Radical! Stagetime for Artists.

Emily’s artwork has been shown in group shows with jurors Mai Wyn and Tim Vacca at Pirate Contemporary Art, in addition to shows at Edge Gallery and Emmanuel Gallery.  In addition to showing work at various festivals and markets around Denver, Emily’s prints are currently available in the I Heart Denver store.
